Year of Birth : 1998

Type of Rider: Scalatore and Chrono

2018 is Paul’s second u23 season with the Zappi team and he hopes to build on the solid foundations gained last season. In 2017, he developed consistently across the year with strong second half of season showings at u23 National TT Champs (11th), competing well in the Piccolo Lombardia, coming 12th in Osimo and 15th at Ruota D’oro (UCI).

After a good winter’s training in his legs, he is now ready to step up and make an impact in national and uci racing.   He is looking forward to this years racing calendar, especially the u23 Giro d’Italia and the Giro di Valle D’aosta.

Previous Team: Edinburgh Race Team

Year of Birth : 1998

Type of Rider: Scalatore

Callum was a guest rider with the Zappi Racing Team on numerous occasions in UK and Italy in 2017. He knows the level of challenge and has joined the team full time in 2018.

After getting respectable and promising results in Italian races, he knows there is room for improvement and is ready to take on the Zapp lifestyle and racing ethos.

His goals for 2018 are to improve and progress further to achieve top 20s and top 10s in Italian National Races. Top 20 results in uci races are also achievable for this strong and dedicated rider. His biggest goal is to impress il Capitano and make his case for inclusion in the Zappi u23 Giro D’Italia team.

2018 is Ben’s second season on the Zappi team and he hopes to build upon the strong development he achieved in 2017. As a first year u23 he quickly discovered that it’s a long journey, and learned a lot about racing in Europe in the u23 category. He is ready now to build on the foundations of his first year and looks to be competitive and have an impact on races in 2018.

Ben is developing his role as a senior rider within the team, and hopes to perform well in the tough uci one-day and stage races in Italy and to secure a place in the u23 Giro d’Italia team in June.

This is Charlie’s first year with the Zappi team and as he observes, a huge opportunity to step up to the next level. He will be looking to gain experience and development and to build the foundations for results as the season progresses.

He recognizes that the varied calendar will give him plenty of opportunity to develop and discover his strengths and areas to work on. The u23 Giro is a target for him if he can secure results in the run-up.

In 2017, Jake was a member of the highly successful Zappi Junior Team, where he had a consistently good season, achieving several top 10s and top 20s in national and junior uci races in Belgium, Italy, Spain and the UK. As a junior he held both the 25 and 10-mile UK TT titles. He also managed to take his A’ levels along the way.

For 2018 Jake graduates to the u23 team, which he recognises as the perfect step up, with the training, the level of racing, and the calendar that gives a climber great opportunity.

After guesting for Zappi RT for a while last year Fergus got a taste for European racing. Unfortunately he broke his collarbone just as he was finding his feet in Italy. This year he hopes to be consistent across the season, with a particular focus on stage racing.

Tim James

Tim James

Home Town: Bourne

Previous Team: 365 4 Bikes Academy

Year of Birth : 1998

Type of Rider: Scalatore

In 2017, Tim had a strong year, stepping up from the junior ranks to race most of the UK Premier Calendar, finishing in the top 30’s and 40’s at most of the races. However as a climber, Tim felt that the UK racing didn’t suit him best and so the switch to Zappi in 2018 was an easy choice. His ambitions for 2018 focus on development, to get physical development, learn the racing, and find out more about what he is capable of.
