Scott’s second season with Zappi’s was a clear indication of his improvement as a rider. Notable results at the Ronde l’Oise and multiple Italian National Level events proved Scott’s ability to perform at a high level throughout the season. For 2017, Scott’s main aim is to simply keep improving with trust that the results will follow his hard work. Consistent top ten results in both Italian National level races and UCI races will remain his target as he enters his third year as an U23.

2016 was Jack’s first year as an U23 with Zappi’s and, despite a number of health setbacks which put him out for large parts of the season; he managed a few creditable results towards the end of August and September. As an all rounder, Jack is looking forward to competing for results in stage races, with his priority being the Giro Valle d’Aosta, as well being a strong and useful team mate in one day races. With hard work and a bit of luck, Jack hopes to be a reliable team member for 2017.

2017 will be James’s second full season with Zappi’s after an impressive 2016. Following numerous top 10s in foreign National level events and 12th on the last stage of the Ronde l’Oise, James took three top 20s in UCI 1.2s in August and September which capitalised an all round successful season for him. In 2017, James brings course knowledge and racing experience to target specific races such as the Giro Valle d’Aosta with the ultimate aim of turning professional in 2018.

Paul joins Zappi’s from his local team Velo Club Venta for the last 2 seasons. 2016 has been a breakthrough for him as he took some serious results in National level events and stage races as well as being one of the region’s top U23s. 2017 is a big step up and a massive opportunity for Paul. He has experienced two races abroad with the team while on trial in August which has helped his confidence. Paul hopes going full time will enable him to pick up some notable results next this coming season.

Pete graduates to U23 level after a successful season in the junior ranks. He was a close 3rd overall in the season long Junior National Road Series which included a 3rd place podium and a stage win in two separate National level stage races. Pete’s ambitions for next season are to reap the benefits of the opportunity that Zappi’s provides and to gain the most out of learning about U23 racing in Europe. His personal aims are to show a constant progression throughout the season and develop new skills to benefit the team.

Another junior making the jump to the U23 ranks is Ben Hardy. A tall climber (6’4!), Ben finished consistently in the top 10 in the Junior National Series as well as making a mark in the Junior Tour of the Basque Country. As a first year U23, a major aim for Ben will be to get used to the longer races. Having only raced abroad once, getting a feel for the different style of racing will be important; but Ben’s confidence to adapt should be a major strength in the long term.

After spending the majority of 2016 in full time education, Jack joined the team for the second half of the season in Italy. Despite a baptism of fire as his race, Jack’s progression was astounding and only ended prematurely by a fractured scaphoid. Jack aims are to be consistent in the Italian National level races and to be in the top ten as much as possible whilst simultaneously being competitive in UCI one day and stage aces.

Owen’s consistency and diverse riding ability make it clear he can perform at a high level. A brace of podiums at hilly junior national series were impressive and a top 10 in a round of the Tour Series shows Owen can challenge on all kinds of terrain. His main goal for next year is to gain valuable experience both on and off the bike but is also keen to prove to himself, and to the team, he can achieve noteworthy results all over Europe.
